Singing the Defiant Requiem

Among the shadows of the darkened hall

One light shines through the dust hovering

Dancing against the black tone

Left behind

The somber clarinet

The painful violin

The whispering choir

Humming the Jewish prayer for the Dead

While Schachter stands watching

From his perch at the podium

Sidlin or Schachter

The same this moment

One heart beating

One mind seeing

One hand beckoning

In the silence

One light shines through the dust hovering

Among the shadows of the darkened hall.
